Jet Fuel

My husband got a little carried away buying new supplies for the Keurig brewer we got for Christmas.  A little biscotti and I could open a coffee shop.

Cabin Fever

All the snow and cold in our part of Tennessee has given everybody cabin fever.   That used to be my notebook.

That worked so well she then decided to use him as a pillow.

Mom Meets the Guy her Daughter Swoons Over

I am writing this post in response to “Mr October”.  He said one of his most awesome experiences was the photo shoot that produced The Hot Bloggers Calendar.  He then charged us, his faithful readers, with posting one of our fabulous times.

I was flying back from Vermont to Tennessee and had a two hour layover at  JFK.  My daughter, who lives in Queens, wanted to use that time to introduce me to her sweetie.

I had heard about him, read about him and seen his pictures but we had yet to have a face to face.  Since I was dying to meet the man who makes my daughter swoon, I readily agreed.  They both took time off from work and we found each other at the Calypso bar down the hall from Jet Blue’s loading area.

Here is a video of one of the most interesting meetings a mother could hope to have.

Lee Ann Makes Friends

100_0670

Lee Ann wants so much to have Sammy like her.  She has followed him around the house, he’s ignored her;  jumped up on the bed with him, he’s ignored her; even licked his face, he’s hissed at her – until today.  Today they sat face to face without a hiss.  Tomorrow, who knows what can happen!

Sugar Shock in the Nicest Way!

Yesterday I had a sugar attack.  It started with breakfast.  I usually have a box of Cheerios and a quart of milk stashed at work so I can have a decent meal once I get there but I was out of both.

About 9:00 a.m. as my boss headed over to the quick mart next to us, he asked me if I wanted an “Apple Ugly”.  Since I was starving I said yes.  What came back was 400 calories of sugar, dough and apple bits.  It was delicious and deadly.

By noon I was starving – not just for food but for sugar.  My other boss and his wife took me to lunch at Waffle House where I had a pecan waffle with as much warm maple sauce as I could could soak in.  It was also delicious and I said I was sure I wouldn’t need supper after that.

After work I drove to Abingdon for my Monday Women’s group.  When I got out at 8:00 p.m., guess what?  I was starving.  Not just for anything either.  I was starving for a Dairy Queen waffle bowl sundae. Luckily there was a DQ right down the street.

It was a glorious sugar day!

A Boy and His Dog

DSC01212

We have a dog!  I know I’ve been a cat person all my life but Marvin is a dog lover and this one got to him so he could not go home without her.  She is a rescue from the Kingsport shelter.  They were showcasing some of their animals at PetSmart Saturday when he went down to get Sammy’s cat food.  The next thing I know my cell phone is ringing while I’m at the church auction and Marvin is saying “Are you doing anything right now?  Can you come down to PetSmart for a minute?”  As soon as I saw her I knew she was coming home.  She and Marvin were both standing on the curb looking like “please, please, please, can we go home together?’  Her name is Lee Ann.

Sammy, of course, is terribly bent out of shape about this:

Well, maybe not.  Actually, they can even be on the same bed together as long as someone is between them, and Lee Ann does not try to get close up friendly.  Then she gets the big hiss.  We are waiting for Lee Ann to invite Sammy into her crate for a sleepover.
